New Zealand_1 Feb

Route: Balclutha - Dunedin Distance Traveled: 87 km

Got started at 10 today, I was waiting for the clouds to break. After about 5 km, it was a nonstop headwind. I was able to average 20 kph but it was a boring grind. The road is not very pretty and once you get close, the road becomes a motorway (no bikes allowed). It IS a big city.

The heart of the city (the octagon) is very pretty but the shoreline I've seen is pretty gross. As is the campsite I have here. I do like the showers [though] - and now I'm watching the Commonwealth Games.

I've been riding into the sun the last two days, but down here it seems okay, with SPF 4, I can stay on my bike for four hours.

Training Diary Comments: Hot, windy. 4:45. Left knee got sore again in middle of ride & today I could feel it after I got off the bike.
