Christchurch, shit. I made it 60 km, [and] then called it quits. I had a headwind all the way. I spent $22 on the bus, $21 on groceries, $12 on the hostel [and] $3.50 on beer... I'm way over budget. I got moved to the worst bed in the room. I hope tomorrow is better. I'm a little scared and depressed here. In the country I feel in control, in the big city it seems out of my hands.

[The route today took me down from the hills to the coastal highway. I had thought that I would just blast the highway all the way into town... Have you ever ridden along a (busy) highway with a headwind? Not so fun.]
