Route: Rai Valley campsite - Picton
Picton - Wellington (ferry)
Distance Traveled: 70 km

What a beautiful finish of the south island. I took the direct route to Pickton, along the coast. From Havelock to Pickton has got to be the most beautiful road on the south island. Not only is it CONSTANTLY up, down, and right & left, but it winds by all these beautiful bays with beautiful houses all beautifully isolated. The architecture is all very tasteful, the bays are all sheltered and the finish into Pickton is all downhill. Very scenic, LOTS of crickets [I could hear them constantly], quiet, no cars, money [meaning the houses], beauty, on and on and on.

I had to hostel it in Wellington, no camping [allowed].

Training Diary Comments: Hot. 6:40. My legs are done. I can still grind along & today I felt OK but I'm pretty slow right now, not fresh.
