| Route: Queenstown - Lumsden |
Distance Traveled: 109 km |
I rode south from Queenstown to Lumsden today and it's a good thing [I was headed south]. As of 10 AM the north wind was intense. At one point I was doing upper 40s [that's kph] on the flats. [And that's on a fully-loaded touring bike. I recall one time I rode no-handed and held my arms out like a spinnaker.]
I rode by the "Remarkables" [some mountains]. They aren't very tall but [they are] very jagged and lots of shadows and colors.
There were some great rest stops/campsites at the southern end of Lake Wakatipu. The ride today was pretty straight and un-eventful. The motor camp is pretty bare but it's clean, has nice showers, boiling water and THIS time, I have a book.
Training Diary Comments: Warm & windy. 5 hrs. My legs were pretty useless today, even with a tailwind. NOse is still running but sneezing is better.
