New Zealand_13 March

Today was truly relaxing. Ron and I gave Suva a thorough walking. We finally found this Harri Krishna veg place that I was looking for and had an ice cream. All flavors were under $1. I had almond. Then it was off to all the duty free shops. There is a while street of them. Then it was back to the market to sample all of the Indian vendors. It was a lot of deep-fried stuff but some of it was quite good. It included potatoes, vegetables, curry, doughnuts, noodles and peas and some orange "pretzels" that I didn't try. Afterwards we found a bakery and went wild. It was just bread but it smelled so good. There were about six different types of whit bread, a "light" wheat, a "Swiss" style an some long loaf and a cinnamon loaf. For dinner we had bread, PB & J, bananas, cucumbers, tomatoes, milk and juice. And cheese. It was excellent.

We saw "Glory" the movie advertised [at the theatre] and it only cost $1.50 so we said, "do it." It was only $1.30 if you wanted to sit in the front (the stall), up top was called "the circle". With some candy for desert we saw enough previews for three movies and a show about how athletic the Chinese youth are. The movie was good and we had great seats. Then it was back to the Grand Pacific Hotel (GPH) for a swim by spotlight and home to shower.

[We had discovered that we could just walk through the lobby of GPH and use their facilities like we were guests. So, we did all our lunging there and made liberal use if their pool.]

It's definitely cooler tonight [meaning I had to use the other sheet]. I also couldn't see ANY stars. The rainy season sure is here. I want one more hot, sunny day please, please, please...

Oh, we also went to the museum. It was nice but not very big. It's all about locals. The variety of clubs and spears was amazing. Killing with a club gives one the most respect.

I'm living in two pairs of shorts and one t-shirt. I think I can last until Thursday.
