TT - did a 45 min warmup on the trainer which seemed good. We had a slight tailwind at the start so right away I was doing 30 mph which is good for moral. The rollers were all right, once I was in the 53x21 but mostly it was a straight ahead power course. I caught my 90-second man (they started us at 30 second intervals) and did not get caught but my time was just average, 28/55 or something.
RR - warmed up for 30 min on the trainer and did not know how I felt. After the first few rollers I knew I did not feel good... We had a guy off the front so it was mostly slow but the hard sections were quite hard for me. The field split on one longer, gradual hill and I got caught in the second half so had to chase back on a descent. Then there was 'the' hill which was hard the first time and exploded the pack the second time. I was in the 3rd group and we caught the 2nd but that was it, the leaders just rode away. With 10 miles to go I was cramping and also doing some work as almost no one in our group wanted to. Martin has a LAME day. |
