Comments: Well, I could definitely feel the weekend in my legs...

REVELATION - I think I need to go for easy rides to work the lactic acid out of my muscles. All I seem to be doing lately is either going really hard or not riding at all. I used to commute to work and that really seemed to help. Better figure this out...

So, it was dry when we got down to the track at 6 and then at 6:20 or so it started raining. It got progressively harder and harder and so we just sat in the car until 7 and rolled out to the start. I had on three layers and a raincoat and booties and full-finger gloves and was SHAKING at the line but it only took one lap to warm up. It was not really cold, just gross... One guy was saying, "It's all about separating the men from the boys!"

On the first descent riders dropped off because they were too tentative with all the water. As the race wore on, more and more riders just dropped out when hard accelerations proved too much for them or they got gapped on the downhill. With 20 minutes to go it was just 6 of us. I kept having to close gaps as there were two Old Town Bicycle guys and Kerry Farrell and they were all attacking. With 2 laps to go, Kerry attacked after I had just closed a gap and I was not able to respond. He stayed away until the end, we dropped two more in the process of chasing and I got 2nd in the 'pack' sprint.

Sheesh, that seemed very hard for 18 lousy miles...
