OBJECTIVE

To obtain a position in a progressive company, where my knowledge, skills, experience, and values-based approach will make a positive difference. I like working with computers and I like working with people to solve their problems; one without the other is not nearly as much fun.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

Sales Manager with several years’ progressive experience in the field. Excellent customer service, phone, group and support skills with demonstrated ability to move problem solving to positive results. Proactive communicator with positive approach to working with both internal and external customers. I'm a team player that is always looking to increase efficiency (and I have technical knowledge to boot).

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

While at SGPP

  • Worked to maximize productivity of labs/units/users and minimize the interference and appearance of technology to the user. To this end, I Installed and configured a VPN between several labs along with a wireless network and remote access software so that network resources in one room (printers, shares, robots) would be securely accessible from the other and users could monitor running applications in any room from their laptops thus eliminating the 'commute' between labs.
  • Implemented Samba shares to allow labs to safeguard their data and an FTP site to facilitate file sharing.
  • Built a resource web site for users with links to recommended software, Microsoft patches, UW licensed applications like anti-virus software and general tips and tricks to help users help themselves.

While at Adhost

  • Pro-actively patched and maintained co-located client servers. This involved coordinating with the client regarding possible down-time, updating a database as to what patches were installed and what system changes were made. Followed up with client upon completion to assure total satisfaction.
  • Created a template for installing the operating system (Windows 2000) and securing new, production servers to maintain consistency and increase efficiency. This resulted in more secure servers, a clear procedure and accountability on the Webmaster’s part.
  • Coordinated with Microsoft to renew our Web Presence Provider (WPP) status for FrontPage and to become a WPP for SharePoint services. I installed SharePoint, configured IIS and coordinated with Microsoft and Adhost’s Marketing Coordinator to promote these services on the web site.
  • Maintained a database of all our servers, workstations, the hardware assets of each and the services run on each to ease the burden of auditing company assets (hardware & software).
  • Continuously handled incoming requests for support via phone and email as they got escalated by our support department. As with most hosting companies, we hosted many competitors. Absolute confidentiality had to be – and was maintained.

While at Ti Cycles

  • Grew a small manufacturer’s gross revenue from $100,000 to $500,000. This involved bringing on an outside investor, moving the retail store from an obscure area to an urban center on a bicycle path with parking, upgrading the POS software and implementing bar-coding, installing Microsoft Small Business Server, promoting our products nationally, getting our products reviewed and coordinating outside reps and athlete sponsorship.
  • Managed entire operation with the exception of actual manufacturing – to include interviewing and hiring qualified employees, writing and administering the employee handbook and company policy, all aspects of employee training, overseeing ad copy and production.
  • As a result of the employee handbook, employee conduct was now enforceable and job descriptions were clear. In the case of one employee that we had to let go, everything was well documented.
  • As a result of the new POS software, top movers were tracked and kept in stock and slow movers were eliminated. This also allowed us to maintain margins on our sales and speed up quote generation and delivery of custom orders.
  • Introduced two-tier pricing (wholesale & retail) and created a national presence.
  • Grew computer network from one stand-alone machine to five clients and a dedicated server. This included stringing cable, installing connectors, NICs, assembling/building the computers, installing the operating systems and establishing connectivity.
  • Administered an electronic mailing list (Majordomo).

While at Powderpigs

  • Authored a technical teaching progression that is still in use after 15+ years.
  • Implemented a technical training program and exam-prep program with 100% pass rate. This program involved both indoor (classroom) and on-snow clinics which I helped teach.
  • Designed a ski school resource page for the Powderpigs web site to help instructors access material when they can't reach someone in person.
